The show globe, filled with chemically manipulated solutions of vibrant color, served as a symbol of the pharmacist's art, distinguishing the synthetic products of the laboratory from the roots and barks of earlier apothecaries.

TRAVELING MUSEUM EXHIBITION

With its innovative combination of traditional museum displays, live laboratory demonstrations, and state-of-the-art interactive video kiosks, the comprehensive Medicines: The Inside Story museum exhibition immerses visitors in the eye-opening world of medical science. The exhibition allows visitors to investigate all aspects of medicine -- not only what they are, where they come from, and how they work, but the ever-changing and sometimes controversial role they have played in society. Following its successful 1996 debut at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta, Georgia, the six-gallery, 4,500-square-foot installation continues to travel to other major science museums across the United States.
