Discover interseting facts about the nature and history of medicines and how they work in the body in What is a Medicine?

One of the most intriguing aspects of the Medicines project is its use of multimedia programs. Using video, music, special effects, narration, and a wealth of graphic images, the multimedia programs create a unique and exciting experience. In the exhibition, interactive kiosks give visitors the opportunity to learn about medicines in a hands-on, highly individualized manner.

These innovative programs from the exhibition are available for home use on the Medicines: The Inside Story CD-ROM. Users navigate through interactive screens to explore What is a Medicine? and Diseases and Therapeutic Approaches. The Make a Medicine game challenges players to design a medicine to fit a target molecule, allowing them to experience the thrills and frustrations of research and development. Two short videos are also included on the CD-ROM; Chain Terminator shows the voyage of a medicine through the human body and Molecule to Medicine outlines the hurdles a new medicine must pass in order to reach the market. Finally, a "virtual tour" of the exhibition allows viewers to walk through all the rooms and revisit important objects and images.

A dynamic and challenging game of research and development, Make a Medicine gives you an opportunity to design a medicine that cures the patient.
